Festival Caravan Hire

I’m Neil from WildernX, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned running caravan hire in Norfolk, it’s that a festival is the moment people fall out of love with tents. We’ve had customers take our vans to Latitude over at Henham Park and come back telling everyone they’ll never go back to canvas. One group put it simply after their weekend:

That’s the whole pitch, really. You’re there for the music and the atmosphere, not to spend the weekend damp and aching on a roll mat.

Our caravans are the Swift Basecamp, which is just about the ideal festival vehicle. It’s compact and light, so towing it onto a site and parking up is straightforward even if you’ve never towed before. And once you’re there, you’ve got an actual home rather than a tent that leaks the moment the Suffolk weather turns.

Why a Basecamp beats a tent at a festival

Here are the honest reasons I’d put one of our vans up against a tent any day:

• A real bed at the end of the night. You come back from the main stage to a comfortable double bed, not a deflating airbed. One customer told me theirs was “very, very comfortable” even though one of them is, in their words, a fussy, awkward sleeper. That matters when you’ve been on your feet since lunchtime.
• Your own hot shower and toilet. No queue, no walk across a muddy field at six in the morning. Every van has a proper shower cubicle, hot water and a clean, easy-to-use toilet of your own.
• Power that lasts the weekend. The battery life on these vans is genuinely excellent, so you can charge phones, keep the lights on and run the heating without a hookup. Mornings can be cold even in July, and waking up warm changes the whole weekend.
• A proper kitchen. You get a fridge/freezer, an oven, a microwave and three gas hobs, so you can cook a real breakfast instead of paying festival prices for everything. There’s central heating and hot water as standard too.
• Room for your gear, locked away. The beds fold up and secure against the wall, which gives you a weatherproof, lockable space for bags, camping chairs and anything you don’t want left out. Add one of the bespoke Vango awnings and you’ve doubled your living space for the group to gather in.

Easy to tow, even for first-timers

I know the towing is what puts people off, so let me put your mind at rest. The Basecamp is short and light, and tows behind almost any car. We’ve moved them with everything from small cars up to larger SUVs If you’re not certain your vehicle can handle it, you can check on towcar.info, or just ring me and we’ll sort it out together.

Every single hire comes with a proper handover, around half an hour, where we walk you through how everything works before you drive off. And we don’t then disappear. We give you a number you can call seven days a week while you’re away, which the festival crowd in particular seems to appreciate.

As one customer said, we showed them how to use the van and gave them a mobile to contact “Ideal if we had any issues, which we didn’t.” And that’s how we like it.

Book early, because summer goes fast

This is the one bit of honest advice I’ll push on you: book ahead. Our vans get booked solidly through the summer, and festival weekends are the first dates to go. The earlier you get your name down, the better your chance of getting the dates you want.
