Caravan and Mountain Bike Hire in Norfolk

I’m Neil, and I run WildernX. We are a Caravan Hire specialist here in Norfolk. People frequently contact me wanting two things for their trip:

1. Somewhere comfortable to stay.
2. A way to get out and ride.

So it always made sense to me to offer both under one roof.

With WildernX, you can hire one of our compact touring caravans and add mountain bikes to the same booking, and the two genuinely go together better than most folk expect.

The reason it works so well comes down to the caravan itself. We run the Swift Basecamp, which was designed from the ground up for active outdoor types, rather than the traditional caravan crowd.

That’s not a happy accident; that’s how the Basecamp is built. You enter through the rear door, which some people raise an eyebrow at first, but the moment you’re wheeling a muddy mountain bike inside out of the weather, you understand exactly why it’s there.

Why a Basecamp suits a cycling trip

A few reasons I’d point a rider towards one of our vans:

• • Bikes travel inside, not strapped to the back. With the beds folded away, you’ve got a secure, weatherproof spot for your bikes overnight or in transit. No rattling rack, no bikes on show in the car park.
  • It tows behind almost anything. The Basecamp is light and short, so you don’t need a big 4×4. We’ve moved them with everything from small hybrids to larger SUVs If you’re not sure your car is up to it, towcar.info will tell you in a couple of minutes, or just call me and we’ll work it out.
  • You come back to a real bed and a hot shower. After a full day in the saddle you’ve got central heating, hot water, a proper shower cubicle and a comfortable double bed waiting. Then to really help, the outside shower attachment is brilliant for hosing down muddy boots, sandy feet and filthy bikes before anything goes inside.

• It’s all there already. Every van comes with central heating, hot water, a fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, shower and a clean, easy-to-use toilet, plus the essential kit to get you going. You bring the bikes and your kit, we handle the rest.
• First-timers are looked after. Every hire comes with a thorough handover and supporting video, so you feel confident towing, even if you’ve never done it before, and we’re on hand seven days a week while you’re away.

Where to ride in Norfolk

Norfolk is flatter than your dramatic mountain routes, and that’s exactly why it’s such a good place to ride for families and anyone building up their distance.

Marriott’s Way gives you over 26 miles of traffic-free trail along an old railway line running out of Norwich, which is hard to beat for a relaxed day with the kids.

Peddars Way is the one for riders who want something with a bit more grit underneath them, a long ancient track heading up towards the north coast.

And if you base yourself near the coast, you can link up quiet lanes and bridleways around the Kelling Heath and Sheringham area, which is where a lot of our hirers end up and keep coming back to.

How to book the caravan and bike bundle

It’s simple. You choose your caravan, and when you book, you tell us you’d like bikes added. We then call you before you pay your balance to make sure you’ve got everything you need and the right number and size of bikes for your group. We’d much rather have that conversation up front than have you arrive and find something’s not quite right.

Our minimum hire on the bigger vans is four days, which suits a long weekend of riding nicely. Collection is in the afternoon, and you’re away, ready to be on the trails the next morning.
